Will of William Barr
- In the name of God Amen the twentyfifth day of October 1766, I William Barr Living in North Carolina and Rowan County being very sick and weak in body but of sound judgment therefore calling to mind the mortallity of my body and knowing that it is Appointed for all men Once to die I Make and Ordain this my Last Will and Testament.
- First of all I give and recommend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it and my Body I Recommend to the Earth to be Buried in Decent Christain Burial at the Discretion of my Executors and as touching Such Worldly Estate as the Lord hath been Pleased to Bless me with in this Life. I give Demise and Dispose of the Same in the following Manner and Form-
- First of all I do order all my lawfull debts to be paid.
- First I give and bequeath to Catherine my dearly beloved wife one horse or mare at her choice.
- I likewise give and bequeath unto my Daughter Mary one horse or mare at her choice.
- I likewise do give and bequeath to my daughter Elisabeth Ten pounds Pennsylvania currency.
- I likewise give and bequeath to my daughter Sarah ten pounds Pennsylvania currency.
- I likewise give and bequeath to my daughter Mary thirty pounds North Carolina currency.
- I likewise give and bequeath to my daughter Catherine thirty pounds North Carolina currency and I do give and bequeath the remainder of my whole estate to my well beloved wife Catherine and all my sons to be equally divided when my beloved wife and my sons and executors shall see proper and my dearly beloved wife to have the one third of my estate and I do constitute and apoint my beloved wife Catherine and my beloved son William and my trusty and well beloved friend John Lowrance Senior, to be my real executors of this my Last will and testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this day and year above mentioned.
