Last will and testament of William Barnett dated July 22, 1846. found at Jefferson County archives in 16mm film Will Book 4, page 29 [words I cannot read will be replaced by brackets or brackets containing a guess. I will retain original spellings as much as possible, including the fact that William spells his last name in different way in the same document. -transcribed by Tim from paper copy of microformed copy, 5/11/2004] Last will and testament of William Barnett, dated 22 July 1846 In the name of God amen, I William Barnt of Jefferson County and state of Kentucky Being of sound mind and do make this my last will and testament -- 1st It is my will that after my Death my Buriel Expenses be paid by my Executor herin afer named out of my Estate 2nd That all my just debts be paid 3rd I will and bequeath that all my personal [ ] and real estate except contain articles here in after mentioned to Tabitha Barnet my wife her natural life time 4th I will to John J. Barnet his horse and saddle Bed and bedding and double cover lid cow and calf And Johnathan is to have his Bed and Beding when sold [cold?] for. 5th I will that after my wifes Death that all my affects and cash notes be [escfeasd] of and equally Divided Between my Ten Children. Be it entirely understood that Tabitha A. Barnett my Daughter is to have Bed and Bedding and bed stead Beareau and Dining Table [two double cor lids] 6th I will that the House and premises where I now lie that is to remain in the hands of Tabitha Barnet my Daughter so long as she remains single at her marring or Death the place is to be sold and Equally Divided among the whole Ten Children. In witness whereof I do hereunto set my hand and [office] my seal this 22 of July one Thousand Eight hundred and Forty Six -- N. B. It is my will that Joseph D. Barnet should Ex aut this my last will William Barnett (seal) Attest: W. L. Welch, [Leven] Cooper State of Kentucky At a county court held for Jefferson County at the court house in the city of Louisville on the fourth of January 1847. The foregoing instrument of writing perporting to be the last will and testament of William Barnett [deceased?] late of this county was produced in court and proved by the oaths of W. P. Welch & [Leven] Cooper the subscribing witnesses thereto. Whereupon the same was established by the court to be the last will & testament of Wm. Barnett [dced.] and ordered to be recorded and is recorded in my office as clerk of said court.
