When his father, Farrington Barkelo died prior to Oct. 5, 1763, William chose John Van Dyke as his guardian. Daniel Barklow of Middlesex County, yoeman, was fellowbondsman. Perhaps the new guardian was the John who married William's Aunt Margaretta and was thus the brother-in-law of Farrington and Uncle of William.
