William Adams Will 1854. Georgia In the name of God Amen. Elbert County I William Adams of the state and county aforesaid being in bad health but of sound and disposing mind and memory do make and publish this my last will and testament hereby revoking all other wills by and heretofore made. First of all I deliver my soul into the hands of God who gave it and my body to be buried in Christian like reverence, and as _ _ _ my worldly estate that it has pleased God to bless me with I dispose of in the following manner. Item 1st. My will is all my just debts be paid. Item 2nd. My will that my son Hiram G. Adams have one horse with sixty dollars; and one saddle, bridle and saddle blanket worth fifteen dollars. Item 3rd. My will that my daughter Rody A. Adams have one cow and calf worth twelve dollars. Item 4th. My will is that the remainder of my property of any description both real and personal be and remain in the possession of my beloved wife Sarah Adams during her natural life or widowhood. Item 5th. My will is that after the death of my wife in case she shall not marry that any executor hereafter be appointed sell all of my property and divide the proceeds thereof between all of my children share and share alike. Item 6th. My will is that in case my wife shall marry that my executor sell all my property and divide the proceeds thereof equally between my wife Sarah Adams and all of my children each to share and share alike. Item 7th. I do hereby select and appoint my two sons William H. Adams and Thomas P. Adams my executors to carry into effect this my last will and testament. In testamony whereof I have here unto set my hand and seal this 24th day of November eighteen hundred and fifty one. The name of Sarah Adams interlined agreed. Test John W. Georgia Court of ordinary Elbert County August Term 1854. Personally came into open Court Memory Thornton and John W. Thornton, two of the subscribing witnesses to the above will and being sworn saith that they heard William Adams sign acknowledge the above and foregoing instrument of writing as his last will and Testament and that they together with Samuel A. Thornton signed the same as witnesses in the presence of and at the request of the Testator and in the presence of each other and thus they believe the Testator to have been of sound mind and memory at the time he executed the same. Georgia Court of ordinary Elbert County August Term 1854. The within Will of William Adams having been proved in open court on the oaths of Memory Thornton and John W. Thornton two of the subscribing witnesses. It is ordered and adjudged by the Court that the said Will be recorded. Attest Wm B. Nelms, Ordinary Recorded August 7th 1854.
