William was a leading citizen of Baltimore, Maryland, a merchant, and a man of wealth. He founded the Union Bank in 1804 and served as its president until the time of his death. He and his brothers, George and James, were officers of the Revolutionary army. As Lieutenant, William signed the Amended Constitution about 1784 as shown by the Maryland records of the Society of the _______ . William served as delegate to the Assembly, 1794-5 and was chosen elector of the Senate for the city, 1796.
