WILHELMINE KLOTZ, 1912-2003 Teacher ran flower farm with spouse
Family members said she had kidney problems and had been on dialysis for e ight years. Born in Pemberville in 1912, Mrs. Klotz attended high school there and we nt on to study to be a teacher at what is now Bowling Green State Universi ty. She taught high school English and Latin in Malinta OH, where she also co ached women’s basketball. Later, she taught in Tontogany. She married Merle Klotz in 1938 and joined him in running the Klotz Flow er Farm. Her involvement spanned more than 60 years, her son, Gene, said. "You never retire when you go into business. You never get it out of yo ur blood," he said. "She did most of the bookkeeping and ... whatever need ed to be done at that time." Her daughter, Nancy Germann, added: "She just enjoyed every minute of ever ything." Mrs. Klotz was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Bowling Green a nd the Faith Lutheran Church in FL. She also was a member of the Wood CO H ospital Guild and the Farm Bureau Council. She and her husband enjoyed camping with a trailer as well and were pa rt of the Easy Goers Campers Club. Mrs. Klotz enjoyed volunteering at election polls for years as we ll as at the South Main Elementary School library. "She enjoyed being around people," Mrs. Germann said. Surviving are her husband, Merle; son, Gene; daughter, Nancy Germann; brot her, Donnan Marten; sisters, Lillian Lang and Francis Taber, four grandchi ldren, and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. today and after 2 p.m. tomorrow in the Dec k-Hanneman Chapel of Hanneman Family Funeral Homes on East Wooster St in B owling Green. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mark’s Luther an Church. The family suggests tributes to St. Mark’s or Heartland Home Health Ca re & Hospice, Toledo. |
