    Wilhelm WAGNERwas born about 1706 in Germany and died in 1763 during and Indian raid led by Tecumseh on the South Branch of the Potomac. Just twenty-eight years latter Tecumseh led a raid on the family of his son Johann Wagner during which Margaret Bonnett, his daughter-in-law, four grandsons and one granddaughter, Margaret were killed. Two granddaughters, Mary and Elizabeth and one grandson, Peter, were captured and taken to Detroit. His son had lost his mother and two siblings in the 1763 raid and his entire family in the 1792 raid in Lewis County, (West) Virginia. [2] [3]

    He was on Captain John Govan's list for the "Margaret"and "Patience" along with Baltzar Fliescher.[4]and accompanied by his wife, Anna Elizabeth and two children: Mary and Johnann (John) Peter. They arrived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania October 25 1748 and emigrated to Germantown which was growing into a large German population. [5] [6] After the death of Anna Elizabeth he married Agnessa (Agnes) Fliescher who married Conrad Lutts after the death of Wilhelm in 1763.[7]

    The family arrived at the Port of Philadelphia, PA, October 25, 1748, aboard the ship "Patience and Margaret" from Rotterdam, Holland.They lived in Montgomery County, PA.Their daughter Anna Elizabeth was baptized in St. Micheals Church, April 24, 1749.Wilhelm's wife died shortly after this baptism and he remarried Agnesa (last name unknown).
    They moved to present day Hardy County, VA about 1754 and in 1755, Indians killed Wilhelm and captured daughter Mary and son Peter.A would be rescuer killed Mary in the course of shooting at the Indians.John Peter survived his captivity and settled in Philadelphia.He is listed in the 1790 census of that city as a shoemaker with five sons and four daughters.

    It was in the year of 1748, a friday, the 25th of October, when the ship Patience and Mary, Captained by John Goven, late of Rotterdam, last of Leith, sailed up the Delaware River into the Port of Philadelphia. Among the passengers of seventy-one men, twenty -nine women, and six children were Wilhelm, his wife Anna Elisabeth, daughter Mary, and son Peter. Anna was four months pregnant at the time. Wilhelm was listed as 42 years old.
    A Johannes Lantz arrived with Wilhelm and lived with him in White Marsh, Pennsylvania which is just west of Germantown.
    Sometime after 1753, Wilhelm and his family along with the Lantz family arrived in the South Branch of the Potomac near Moorefield, West Virginia called Old Field.
    Wilhelm was killed and scalped when the indians raided his farm. His daughter Mary and son Peter were helping him in the garden outside the walls of their fortlike home when the raid took place.

    Notes for MARY WAGGONER:
    Mary was kidnapped by the indians during the raid on her family along with her brother Peter. The indians divided into two groups for their escape, each taking a different captive. The following retrieval party followed Mary's group. The party that contained followed contained Mary's finiance. The party shot on the indians after coming upon them at their campfire, accidentally shooting Mary and killing her.

    Peter was kidnapped by the indians but later escaped with some fur traders. He went to Philadelphia and became a cordwainer
