    "Private Wilfred Desmond, of the 116th Battalion passed away at his home here on April 8th. Private Desmond went overseas with the 182nd Battalion and in England was trans- ferred to the 116th and s ent to France. He spent a number of months in the trenches, and while there became a victim to poisonous gas and was sent to the military hospital in England for some time, returning home in the spri ng of 1918. The funeral was held here on Monday, April 12th at St. Andrews Roman Catholic Church...."
