Wilbur H. Guyer, 81, of Blairsville, died Monday, Dec. 22, 2003, in Scenery Hill Manor, Indiana, Pa. Born Sept. 10, 1922, in Wilkinsburg, he was a son of the late William and Ethel (Hopkins) Guyer. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Beckwith Machinery Co., Murrysville. He had also worked at Latrobe Steel Co. for 18 years and was a former teacher for Vale Tech Institute in Blairsville. A World War II veteran, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a life member of the Blairsville VFW and a member of the Blairsville F.O.E. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty R. (Palmer) Guyer, on Aug. 15, 1991; and a son, Mark E. Guyer. He is survived by two sons, Wilbur H. Guyer Jr. and wife, Karen, of Armagh, and Richard E. Guyer and Lynn, of Blairsville; a daughter, Donna L. Treese and husband, Donald, of Black Lick; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Herbert Guyer and wife, Helen, of Derry. Friends will be received Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. Services will be held Sunday at 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Donald Graff officiating. Interment in Unity Cemetery. The Blairsville VFW Post #5821 will hold military services at noon Sunday in the funeral home.
