Facts and Events
The Cram Sourcebook has: "As a youth he moved with his parents to Sharon Township, Clinton County, Iowa, near Maquoketa. He was a livestock owner and a farmer. In 1875 he formed a partnership with his father, John. The firm, John Cram & Son, moved to Monmouth, IA., where they farmed and raised thoroughbred livestock. In 1883 they dissolved the partnership and Wilbur moved to Loup County, near Walworth. The family farmed and ranched there until the fall of 1893, when they moved to Burwell, NE. Wilbur moved to Sharon Township, IA, in the spring of 1875. He lived on his father's farm of 183 1/2 acres, valued at $40 per acre, and in addition he owned with his father 40 acres of land valued at $30 per acre. He taught school for 13 winters (beginning in 1879) in connection with his other business, and served as Township Assessor in both Sharon and Monmouth Townships." 1880 Census of Monmouth, Jackson, Iowa Page 577B Relation Sex Marr Age Born FB MB Occupation Wilber Q.
