Whitley STOKES was b. 1dec1867 and d. 1908. Whitley adm at Trinity 1885, son of H.E. esq., of Kenmare, Ireland; school Clifton College, MB London 1894; MRCS, LRCP 1892; medical officer, Transvaal, S. Africa goldmining estates in 1900; lived at Lydenburg, Transvaal (Cambridge alumni site). Will of Whitley Stokes (d. 4jan1908) of Holloway Sanatorium, Virginia Water, Surrey; probate 23jan1908 London, 1740 gbp, Lilian Emily Sophy Stokes widow (National Probate Calendar). Whitley was possibly born 1867 (M. Serjeantson). He married 1897 Lillian HILLIS (d.1937). A Whitley Stokes (b. abt 1868) died 1st qtr 1908 at Windsor (bmd); this could be son of Mary Bazely. Whitley Stokes, MD, was born 1dec1868, married mar1897, Lilian Emily Sophie HILLIS (d. 21dec1937), daughter of Dr. John David Hillis, of 10 Leinster Sq. Rathmines, Dublin, and died 4jan1907, leaving issue (Burke's Irish family records).
