Saw action on D-Day at Normandy and Battle of the Bulge. At time of death had 3 grandsons, 2 granddaughters and 2 great-grandsons. Cared for at Baptist Hospital by Dr. Gary Bond and nurse and staff in ICU-501.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 17th, 1996 in Gene Adams Chapel with burial in Resurrection Cemetery.

    COVEY Wesley, 75, born 1-9-21 in Johnson County near Tishomingo, died 8-14-96. His parents were Ike & Ruby (Neely) Covey. Wes attended school in Tishomingo. He was a staff sgt. in WWII, where he was part of Co. B 59th Signal Batt. and saw action on D-Day at Normandy and Battle of the Bulge. Wes was a lineman at SWB and retired from there as a network mgr. after nearly 40 years. He married Thelma Copp in Pauls Valley on Dec. 21, 1946. Wes was preceded in death by his parents and an infant granddaughter. Survived by his wife, Thelma; sons, Mike Covey of Newalla, Ok., Terry Covey & wife, Jackie of OKC; grandsons, Kile, Alan, Nicklaus & granddaughters, Whitney Covey & Tammy Brown; 2 great grandsons, Ricky & Cody Brown; sister, Juanita Newton of Ardmore; sisters-in-law, Jaunita Scheerer & husband, John of El Cajon, Ca., Nettie Vatland & husband, Andy of LeVerne, Mn, Ruby Copp of Chickasha; brother-in-law, Harry Copp & wife, Mertis of Chickasha, Ok. The family wishes to thank all the doctors at Baptist Hospital, and especially Dr. Gary Bond, all nurses and staff in ICU-501, for the love and care extended to Wes and his family.
