!NOTES OF INTEREST: When Anna WADDELL and her family moved to Covington Co., MS, they lived next door to Robert and Jane LAIRD. Wellington married Robert and Jane's daughter, Elizabeth LAIRD. Wellington's brother, Francis Marion, married Elizabeth's sister, Sarah Jane LAIRD. In 1870 Elizabeth and Wellington lived next door to their parents. He was a farmer. In 1880 they lived in Simpson County. They had 5 children. Elizabeth muist have died during the next ten year span. Wellington married Elizabeth(Lizzie) either HARPER or FITZHUGH. There were no children by this marriage. From Wellington's obituary: "We do not believe this man ever spoke an ill word of anyone, and so far as it was in his power did unto others as he would have others do unto him. He believed firmly in the efficacy of prayer, and always spent a few minutes on bended knees before the family alter, communing with the Savior he loved so well". Cause of death for Wellington was Mitral Regurgitation, a heart valve not closing properly.
