Ward O. Gilbert, Portland, Ore., died suddenly Thursday, April 16, of a heart attack in Arcata, Calif., while en route to Milton to visit his brother Z. W. Gilbert.
Mr. Gilbert was born July 18, 1889, in Utica, Wis., the son of John S. and Emma Oviatt Gilbert. The family moved to Milton Junction and he attended Milton Junction schools. He was graduated from the Marquette School of Pharmacy, Milwaukee. In 1907 he purchased a drug store in Melrose, later moving to La Crosse, where he owned and operated the Majestic Pharmacy for many years. For the past ten years he had practiced pharmacy in Klamath Falls and Portland, Ore.
He is survived by his wife, the former Grace Bovee, whom he married in April, 1953; his brother, Dr. Z. W. Gilbert, Milton; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was buried in Roselawn Cemetery, Whittier, Calif., on Tuesday.
