Bonnie Gilbert, daughter of Sumner and Emma Oviatt Gilbert, was born Feb. 14, 1888, in the town of Milton, and died at her home at Newville, April 18, 1944. She had been ill since Mar. 1, submitted to an operation in Mercy hospital, returned home and was improving rapidly when suddenly stricken with heart attack.
After graduation from Milton Junction high school she worked for some time as telephone operator. She also spent two years in South Dakota where she homesteaded a claim. On Dec. 1, 1902, she was baptized and united with the Milton Junction Seventh Day Baptist church. She was also a member of Friendship chapter, O.E.S., and the Past Matrons chain at Milton Junction.
On July 20, 1918, she was married to Lex W. Brown, Newville, and they have since resided in their present home at Newville. To this union was born two children, Wilma and Lexine. In this home, her mother, Mrs. Emma Gilbert, aged 97, has been tenderly cared for during a number of years.
Survivors are her husband and children; her aged mother; two brothers, Dr. Zina Gilbert, Melrose, and Ward Gilbert, La Crosse; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted from an Edgerton funeral home at 1:30 p.m. and from S.D.B church at Milton Junction at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, Rev. John Fitz Randolph, pastor, officiating. The Eastern Star will have charge of burial service in Milton Junction cemetery.
