Walter Robson was born in 1861 in the parish of Ford, Northumberland, son of Jane Robson, formerly Patterson, and her husband Walter Robson, a carter. Young Walter appears as a one month old baby in the 1861 census living with his parents and siblings in the hamlet of Crookham in Ford. Sadly he died as a baby within the three months after that census.
