Facts and Events
Farmer, Feed Mill worker From a letter written by Minnie: After their wedding, Walter and Minnie lived in Rock Springs, Wyoming, where their first three children were born. In 1914, after the death of their first son, Robert, tey moved to a farm south of Oconto, Nebraska, where their next three children were born. In about 1921 they moved to a farm about fifteen miles north of Cozad, Nebraska, where their last six children were born. All the children attended country school there. In 1942 the farm which they had been renting for 21 years was sold. Minnie, who had always wanted to be back in Wyoming, took the three youngest children and moved back to Wyoming to live with her brother Bert McMillan. Walter moved into a small house in Cozad and worked in an alfalfa mill and built a small house, where he lived until his health failed and he went to a care home in Lexington, Nebraska, where he passed away. |
