Micellaneous item in Evening Telegram, St. John's 26 Sept 1892 Captain Samuel Patten, of Grand Bank, master of schooner "George Foote" lost with all hands August 1892. Wreckage found. Had collided with another vessel and sank. (He was born 1857, son of Edward & Sarah Ann Hickman, and married Jane Forsey in 1886.) His brother, Walter Charles Patten (b. 1872) was lost at sea Dec. 1910 on his schooner "Elfreda May" between Boston and Grand Bank.
