Walter J. Gerard Funeral Services Thursday Morning

Walter J. (Irish) Gerard, 61, of 742 Young died at 8:45 a.m. Monday at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton following surgery.

He had been a patient there for one month and has been in failing health for several years. Born in Piqua, Oct. 5,1909, he was the son of Oscar J. and Elizabeth Murphy Gerard. He had lived in Piqua all his life and attended St Mary's School and Piqua Catholic High School.

In 1934 he married Pauline Burnside. She survives. Mr. Gerard was a member of St. Mary's church and was a retired employee of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, Include four sisters, Mrs. George (Isabelle) Dresbach of Detroit, Mrs Loren (Jean) Rittenhouse and Mrs. George (Marguerite) Young, both of Dayton, and Mrs. Rosealice Estes of Troy; and two brothers, Joseph Gerard of Venice, Fla. and John F.
