'Wednesday, February 16, 2000, page 10A: 'Virginia Schier Denney, 80, died at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2000, in Christus St. Joseph's Hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, in Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Felts officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Denney was born in Lamar County Sept. 7, 1919, to Charles E. and Ada Lockhart Francis. She graduated from Paris High School and Paris Junior College. She married Cecil Schier Oct. 15, 1951. He died June 23, 1971 and she married Bryan B. Denney Aug. 30, 1975. He died July 12, 1996. She worked many years for the Munsingwear Company in Paris and later was partner and bookkeeper for Denney Welding & Machine. She was a member of Atlas Baptist Church. Surviving are numerous cousins including Paul Whitney and his wife Frances of Lubbock; a special friend, Gerald Harris of Paris; and caregivers Doris Springer and Mary Newberry.'"
