Tullis June 21, 1925 - May 25, 2003 Visitation: May 28, 2003 Service: May 29, 2003 Cemetery: Oakdale Cemetery VIRGINIA TULLIS, 77, of Urbana, passed away after a brief battle with cancer on Sunday, May 25, 2003. She died peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family. Virginia was born on the family farm on June 21, 1925, the daughter of Samuel and Florence Clem. She married local farmer, Wayne Tullis on February 11, 1948. Together they raised two children, Shirley Lee and Thomas Wayne. Virginia continued to be involved in the family farm operation up until her death. She will be remembered as a kind and loving mother and grandmother who always put her family first. She will be deeply missed by her five grandchildren who were her life. Virginia is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Fred Wright of Piqua, along with their sons, Jonathan and Jeremy Wright; her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Noel Tullis of West Liberty, along with their children, Joshua Astorino, Troy and Brooke Tullis. She is also survived by a sister, Lucille Lytle of Bellefontaine, a brother-in-law, Vernon (Nancy) Tullis of Mechanicsburg and sisters-in-law, Marjol Kinney of Springfield, Priscilla (Andy) Andrews of Springfield and Pat Clem of West Liberty. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Tullis in 1990, two brothers, Melvin Clem and Herbert Clem. She was a 1933 graduate of Salem High School. Virginia was a member of the Kingscreek United Methodist Church, The Champaign County Farm Bureau, the Champaign County Homemakers Extension Club, Althea Club, and the Elizabeth M. Hood Chapter #505 Order of Eastern Star. Mrs. Tullis was a longtime sponsor of Kingscreek Youth Baseball. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and loved playing cards and the piano. Active pallbearers will be her grandsons, Joshua Astorino, Jonathan Wright, Jeremy Wright, and Troy Tullis. Bob Detrick and Wayne Hamilton will also serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Phillip Young, Keith Kinney, Joe Clem, Ken Clem, Mike Clem, and Vernon Tullis. A gathering of family and friends will be held Wednesday, May 28, 2003 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME, URBANA. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Bruce Vincent officiating. Burial will be held in Oakdale Cemetery.
