some information on Jabez and his parents from Danny Hall world traveler @ dr.com:

Jabez was in Shelburne for quite some time with his parents until their deaths..John 1834 and Violette in 1832. He had one brother James who married Melissa Hall daughter of Burgess Hall Sr. they are shown in the Shelburne census in 1810 and 1830. Not sure what happened to them in between or after those years yet...I think they may have moved to Michigan in 1837 with many of the other Hall Siblings. There is a James S Kinney in Seneca Lenawee co (which is very close to Palmyra) in 1837 and 1840. It appears from the 1830 that James and Melissa only had 3 girls. Although I haven't ruled out the possibility of James marrying a second wife who had 2 younger daughters as there is quite a gap between the eldest and the last 2. Trying to confirm where this James went. He was apparently a Captain in the war of 1812 at the Battle of Plattsburgh. He sold his last bit of land in Shelburne about 1817 to his brother in law Burgess Jr. The James Kinney House of Shelburne was his house.
