VIOLET J. KENNEDY, 84, Lima, died at 10:05 a.m. March 2, 2003, at Shawnee Manor Nursing Home. She was born Jan. 27, 1919, in Van Wert to Lawrence and Myrtle Workman Strayer, who preceded her in death. On Oct. 15, 1940, she married Donald Kennedy, who died Feb. 1, 1998.

Mrs. Kennedy had worked in the office at Clark Equipment. She was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Lima Senior Citizens and Lima Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Survivors include a son, Rick (Deb) Kennedy of Lima; five grandchildren, Jeff, Denise, Michelle, Megan and Angela; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Patterson.

Services will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Howard Allison will officiate. The body will be cremated. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today and noon until time of services Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O.
