Viola Miley Wehmeyer, 81, a resident of Bogalusa, died yesterday in East Jefferson Hospital. She was a retired teacher and a member of the Bogalusa Retired Teacher's Association and Kappa Kappa Iota. Also an active member of Westside Emmanuel Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years.
Survivors include a son, Gary Wehmeyer of Bogalusa; a daughter and son-in-law, Melva Lea and Kenny Stewart of Greenwell Springs; grandchildren, Kyle and Kelli Stewart of Greenwell Springs; a sister and brother-in-law, Sadie and Albert Johnston of Bogalusa; a sister and brother-in-law, Mavis and Henry Creel of Franklinton; a sister, Mildred Camp of Franklinton; and special friends, Minnie Lea and Vernon Hoke of Bogalusa.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin G. Wehmeyer; her parents, Bessie and Hamp Miley; a sister and brother-in-law, Alma and Johnny Carpenter; and a brother-in-law, Shelby Camp.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. today at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home and tomorrow from 10 a.m. until the service at 2 p.m., with Dr. David Womack officiating.
