Jimmy wasfighting against the Germans when he and his troops were pushedthrough Africa and into Italy. One of Jimmy's comrades had beeninjured and Jimmy went in to save him. He threw him over hisshoulder and as he was leaving, he stepped on a mine. He wasn'tkilled instantly when the mine exploded. Instead he lived untilhe finally gave out in a hospital. Jimmy had my grandfatherLouis as his sole recipient should anything happen to him whilein the war. It turned out that $10 per month was what the armygave my grandfather.
