Bio: MONROE COUNTY - Vesterine Smith-Webb, 101, passed Tuesday, October 12, 2010. Funeral services will be 11A.M. Saturday, October 16, 2010 at St. Phillip A.M.E. Church, 36 Fort Valley Road, Culloden, GA. Burial: City of Culloden Cemetery. Vesterine was one of ten siblings born to the late Elijah Preston and Martha Elizabeth Ralls. Two children and eight siblings preceded her in death. She was director of the Neighborhood Service Center and County Developer. Vesterine was responsible for developing government and private programs to serve the citizens of Monroe County. Under her leadership, the Older Americans Council and the Title 20 Day Care Center came to Monroe County. She served on the Culloden City Council and as Mayor Pro-tem of Culloden. Her survivors include her sister, Mary Snead of Dayton, Ohio; seven children, Ophelia Scott, Louise Wilson and Betty Peters of Brooklyn, NY, Dorothy Bentley of Akron, Ohio, Dallas Smith, Jr. of Glen Burnie, Maryland, Roscoe Smith of Summerville, SC and Jack Smith of Aberdeen, NC; nine stepchildren, nineteen grandchildren and a host of great and great-great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
