OBITUARY: From the Chicago Herald-American newspaper, of unknown date: "Show Sounder Seaver "Vernon C. Seaver, 88, who in the years following the Columbian Exposition of 1893 built an amazing career in the yachting, restaurant and entertainment fields in Chicago, was buried today in Miami. "Seaver got his start in entertainment as a boy, when he ran away from his farm home at Brookfield, MO to join a circus. "He came to Chicago at the time of the Columbian Exposition and opened a restaurant. It became so successful he opened five others and a wholesale bakery, becoming the owner of the city's largest restaurant chain. "Seaver also introduced movies to Chicago. In partnership with Joe Howard, the song writer, h rented a store at State and Van Buren Sts and showed two reels of the Corbett-Fitzsimmons fight. "Seaver leaves his wife, Ethel, his sons Vernon Jr. of Chicago and Jack of Philadelphia; a daughter, Dot B. Tlbot, Cedar Rapids, and two grandsons, Andy Talbot, Jr. promotion director of the Chicago Herald-American, and Jack V. Talbot, of Manna, P.I."
