Middletown Daily Times-Press, June 1, 1906 Brakeman Lost a Leg Vernon Irwin, an O. & W. brakeman, while trying to board a moving train at Stillwater, Pa., a few days since missed his footing and went under the wheels, the result being a crushed right leg, which was, of course, amputated, at the Carbondale Hospital. He is 23 years of age and his home is at Maybrook.

Obit from Middletown Times-Press, Middletown, NY, October 21, 1918 Vernon Irwin Ellenville, Oct. 20--Vernon Irwin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Abram N. Irwin, died at the home at Montela, on Tuesday, October 8th. He had been in por health for some time. In March he went to work in the glass factory at Port Jervis, but a few weeks ago went home. He was born near Montela, and was 36 years of age last August. He is survived by his wife, who was formerly Miss Addie Lockwook, three children, his parents and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. John Reminston of Goshen; Wesley Irwin, of South Hill; Nelson Irwin, of Middletown; Mrs. George Miller, of Downsville; Charles Irwin, of Connecticut; Mrs. Reuben J. Kkle, of Ellenville; Harry Irwin, of Port Jervis; Cornelius Irwin, in France; Richard, at home; and Mrs. George Schoonmaker, of Kingston.
