Died of complications from stroke and a broken hip. None Parents were Lyman and Emaline Croup. One of six children. Baptized by Rev. H. H. Sanders, Pastor of Grace Reform Chruch of Harmony, Pennsylvania. Ceremony took place at the home of the M. Dufford's. Sponsored by parents. Both Verna and Iva list Allegheny, Pennsylvania, as residence on marriage certificate. Married on a Tuesday by C. B. King, Luthern minister, Bethel Lutheran Church, Allegheny. Marriage was witnessed by Olive Croup (Verna's sister) and Clarence C. Allen (Iva's brother). Lived at 1310 Penna Avenue, N.S., Pittsburgh, PA, after marriage. Per a post card dated July 22, 1922, they also lived at: 1425 Chateau St., N.S. Pittsburgh, PA Widowed at age 41. Purchased "the buildings at Meridian" owned by the Pittsburgh, Harmony, Butler & New Castle Rwy. Co. for $75 on May 4, 1933. Formerly used by the railway as "a passenger station and a freight station." (Information taken from Bill of Sale.) On January 29, 1946, she purchased the property the two buildings were on from Mary A. Schlagel for $1.00. Information taken from the Deed . Building was divided. Had a general store on one side and an ice cream parlor on the other. Built Dick and Eleanor a home behind the store for a wedding present. Sold the store in 1955 (?) and wintered inSt. Petersburg, Florida, and spent the summer with Jim and Ollie. Loved her flowers. Had a large rose garden and several other flower gardens. Won awards at the fairs with her glads. She and Ollie had a big vegtable garden also. Did a lot of canning. One daughter, Edris Virginia, born 9-14-09. Died at age 21 of T. B. Edris died one week after Grandma's mother, Emaline, died.. One son, Wallace Richard, born 1-12-12. Died at age 76 from complications from strokes. Verna died at age 87.
