Vera Lucille (Shaw) Thompson was born on April 10, 1926 the youngest of ten children in Eakly, Oklahoma to Leo H. and Mary (Jones) Shaw and entered her Heavenly Home on May 31, 2016 in Durant, Oklahoma at the age of 90.
Vera was a dedicated homemaker to her family and children. She and her first husband, Truman Simpson, raised three children together. She dearly loved her Lord and Savior and her church family at Streetman Road Baptist Church. Vera married Oran B. Thompson in 1980 and they were blessed with 24 years together until Oran’s passing in 2004. She enjoyed traveling the United States with Oran in their RV, collecting butterflies and church activities. But most of all she cherished her time with her family and friends.
Vera was preceded in death by her parents; husband and nine brothers and sisters.
Vera is survived by her children, Linda Andrews and husband Robert of Las Vegas, NV, Dudley Simpson and wife Betsy of Cordell, OK and Gayl Davis and husband Jerry of Oklahoma City, OK; grandchildren, Leah, Lara, Ben, Katherine, Mary and Jessica; great grandchildren, Julie, Jaylin and Ransom and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Funeral services ~ Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel. Dr. Darren Wallace will officiate. Interment followed in Rosehill Cemetery in Ardmore, OK.
Arrangements are under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service, Durant.
