    Vera Derby Adcock Vera Derby Adcock, 96, formerly of Topeka, passed away on March 10, 2017 in El Dorado, Kansas. She was born October 13, 1920 at Goff, Kansas the daughter of Otho and Estella M. Hanks Johnstone. She was raised at Oakley, Kansas, returning to Goff where she graduated from high school. She married her husband, George Derby in Nemaha County in 1941. She lived in Topeka from 1948 until 1973. She worked at the Capper Foundation. Mr. Derby passed away in 1977. Vera lived at Truth or Consequence, New Mexico for many years. She married Kenneth Adcock in 1982. Kenneth passed in 2001. She loved to watch westerns, and enjoyed music. And she loved to travel, seeing all 50 states and Scotland. She is survived by her sons, Farris Derby and wife Janet of Augusta, and son David Derby of Topeka; several generations of grandchildren. Preceding her in death are her daughter Georgia Sorrel's; two sisters, Lois and Doris and a brother, Herb. Graveside services will be held at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery on Thursday March 16th at 11:00 a.m. Mrs. Adcock will lie in state from 11:00 to 5:00 on Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home.
