    Marie E. Johnstone, 100, of Wetmore, KS, died May 13, 1996, at Eventide Convalescent Center in Topeka, KS.

    She was born August 11, 1895, in Nemaha County, KS, the daughter of James and Ivy Schaffer Hanks.

    She was married to Otho L. Johnstone on April 17, 1912, in Seneca, KS. He died March 1, 1972.

    She moved from Nemaha County to Gove County in 1923, where she and her husband farmed until 1939. They returned to Nemaha County and lived in Goff, KS until 1973, when they moved to Wetmore.

    She was a member of the Wetmore United Methodist Church, the Nemaha County L.M. Home Extension Club, and the W.I.O.N. Club in Gove County, KS.

    She is survived by daughters of Marquette, IL and Truth or Consequences, NM; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 27 great-great-grandchildren

    She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents; son Herbert Johnstone on March 17, 1995; and daughter, Lois Suter on November 1, 1975.
