Vaughn W. Nighswander, 90, of Autumnwood Care Center, died at 7:31 a.m. Friday, Aug. 25, 2000, at the Care Center. He was born in Liberty Township June 14, 1910, to George Orton and Vinnie (Keyes) Nighswander. He spent his lifetime in Seneca CO but had wintered in Florida for the last 46 years. On Dec. 25, 1933, he married Dorothy Russell in Fostoria. She survives, along with two sons, Allen of Tiffin and Alton of Fostoria; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Stewart of Bettsville. Preceding him in death were: three brothers Claude, Gerald and Dale; and a sister, Florence Burson. He graduated from Bettsville High School; retired as a farmer and a drainage contractor; was a member of Fort Seneca Community United Church of Christ, Masonic Lodge, Farm Bureau and a former member of OH Drainage Contractors. The Rev. Barry Bordenkircher will officiate at the 11 a.m. funeral Monday in the Turner-Engle Funeral Home. Burial will be in Pleasant Union Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Fort Seneca Community United Church of Christ.
