    In the Seventh-day Baptist Society, Pardee, Kansas, May 6th, 1867, Dea. Varnum Burdick, in the 64th year of his age. Bro. Burdick became a Christian in his youth, and exemplified the grace of the gospel in his advanced years, by giving up a home of pleasure and profit in Elgin, Ill., and making one for himself and family with us, where they could enjoy Sabbath privileges. He had been a great sufferer from disease for many years. On coming here there was a visible improvement in health. His death was sudden, he having worked the day before he died. Something like an abscess seemed to be the immediate cause.
