1920 census indicates that Valentine was age 70, born in Germany, lived in Auburn Township, owned their home and was a farmer.
In The History of the Tuscarawas County Schools book, page 13, it has a brochure from the Wasem School, Auburn Township, school year 1898-1899, and Valentine is listed as a Sub-Director of the school.
retired from farming in 1925 and moved to Dover
