Speich: - Ursula Speich a daughter of Fridolin Speich and his wife Magdalena was born November the 19th 1868 in Vernon Township, Humboldt Co., Iowa. She received the sacrament of holy baptism in her childhood and grew up to the joy of her parents. Ursula was a virtuous and industrious young maiden, a good help in the family and respected by all who knew her. For some time her health was not very good, yet no one thought her end so near. Last Tuesday she took sick with cancer and died on Friday the 7th of Nov., at the age of 21 years 11 months and 12 days. She leaves a bereaved father, stepmother, 8 brothers and 3 sisters and many relatives and friends to mourn her early departure. Seventeen years ago her mother preceded her into the spirit world. On Sunday her mortal remains were interred in the German Cemetery in Vernon Township. The large funeral procession and the sympathy manifested by friends and neighbors gave evidence that the departed was held in high esteem. The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. J. D. Schaible from the Gospel of St. John 5, 28-29.
