Nearly three years of the civil war. Starting in the 18th Regiment, Maine Volunteer Infantry which was reorganized after only a few months to become the 1st Maine Heavy Artillery. Captured and recorded as captive at Andersonville. Family oral tradition specified Libby Prison in Richmond. Considering that the capture site was in front of Petersburg, perhaps he was staged through Richmond before being taken south, but that would be curious.
