She spent most of her lifetime in Livingston County. She taught Latin, English and Spanish in Macon, Dawn, Hallsville, and in Chillicothe for 24 years. She was the sponsor of the school paper The Grabbler, the Spanish Club, and the Latin Club.

She had been President of Macon and Chillicothe Business & Professional Women Clubs. She also was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, DAR, Colonial Dames, and PEO.
