Facts and Events
[edit] NotesThe identity of Rafe Greenwood's wife has not been yet determined. We know her surname is likely "Brown" from daughter Florence Louise 'Flora' [Greenwood] Richardson's California Death Index, as it is listed that her mother's surname was "Brown", and that her mother was born in Maine. Rafe and Miss Brown were likely married in 1890 [possibly in Placer County], according to the 1900 Census records of Placer County where Rafe indicated he had been married 10 years and the marriage took place in 1890. A search of Placer County marriage records may yield the identity of Rafe Greenwood's wife. Although Rafe indicated he was "married" in the 1900 Census, his wife is missing from the 1900 Census Records, only Rafe, his son Ralph and daughter Flora are listed in the household, possibly indicating that his wife had recently passed away. Additional research is necessary. Possible Clue: There is a Mary Ann Greenwood buried in nearby Old Auburn Cemetery (undated grave, direction SW1/4, Lot 433, grave 5), that could be the wife of Rafe, but this also could be Rafe's older sister Mary Ann [probably more likely], again, additional research is necessary. |
