Apparently, he was pardoned when the fort at Jemseg fell to d'Aulnay in 1645 because he agreed to be the hangman of Latour's men.[4]

    Ed Barrieau submitted these, verified by the Centre d'Etudes Acadiennes. His first name is not known, but it was not André, according to Stephen White. He and Andrée GUYON had daughters Marie and Jeanne BERNARD.

    Andre [sic] BERNARD, born around 1620 in Beauvoir sur Mer, Vendee, France, married in France around 1640 to Marie Andree GUION. They arrived in Acadia in 1641, returned to France around 1645, returned to Acadia around 1651-1654. Their children were Jeanne BERNARD dite BELIVEAU, born at Port Royal in 1743, married Guyon CHIASSON dit LaVallee, died around 1782; and Marie BERNARD (born 1645 Port Royal) who married Rene LANDRY II in France, died at Port Royal in 1719. Their father BERNARD died before 1651 [when his widow remarried to Antoine BELIVEAU] in France.
