Identity?

In Edward's pension records, he states in 1820, that his wife is aged 40 (b.abt.1780). This woman can not be the mother of his son, born about 1785. We also know this woman died before May of 1831, when Edward married Chloe Barnes. In the pension record, Edward states that the land (about 40 acres, 10 acres cleared) in Lyman he lives on belongs to his wife and was deeded to her by Charles White. Research into Lyman land deeds may provide us with her proper identity. Family trees found online claim Edward was married to a Sarah Elmers. Perhaps this 2nd wife is Sarah.
