  5. Obituary for Torger O. Romsos, from LANSBORO LEADER

Torger O. Romsos, one of the oldest and most highly respected residents
of Pilot Mound Township passed to his final reward at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Landskov in Minneapolis on Saturday, November 19, 1910.
Mr. Romsos was born on July 25th, 1840, in Ringebu, Gulbrandsdalen,
Norway and was in 1863 united in marriage to Miss Beret Elvestat. They emigrated to America in 1866 and coming to Pilot Mound Township he has made his home here ever since, his wife dying on September 22, 1882. Of the ten children born to them, six are still living, Ole and Oliver of Sarles, North Dakota, Alfred of Regent, North Dakota, Mrs. Landskov of Minneapolis, and Mathias of Pilot Mound, who were present at the funeral, and Mrs. J.A. Garrison of Carlstadt, Alberta, who could not reach here in time on account of the great distance. A brother of the deceased, Lars O. Romsos, and son of Lowry, Minnesota, were present at the funeral.
The funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the North
Prairie church and were very impressive. Mr. Romsos had long been an energetic member of that congregation and the church was elaborately decorated in black and white. Two impressive sermons were delivered, one in the Norwegian language by the present pastor, Reverend Roalquam, and one in the English language by his former pastor, Reverend n.A. Giere; the choir also rendered several beautiful selections.
A large crowd of old neighbors and friends were in attendance to pay
their last tribute of respect to a kind and noble gentleman.
