Of Timothy Higgins there is this tradition: "Near the close of the French-Indian wars, a party of Colonial or ENglish soldiers, returning from the war, stopped at Milford, Connecticut, overnight. They had with them two small childen whom they had recaptured from the French. The children were of English parentage, named Timothy and Ruth. The people of Milford took them in charge and gave them the name of Timothy and Ruth Hidden, but in later years they changed the name to Higgins." source:Stukely Westcott book by Bullock Timothy served in the Revolutionary War, and after his service lived in Milford, Connecticut. In 1803 he moved his family to Middlebury, Connecticut. His business was that of a shipping merchant.
