    Land Revision Books at the Valuation Offfice, Dublin, Ireland were examined for the townland of Keel, parish of Glanbehy, District of Cahersiveen, Electoral Division of Lickeen, Co. Kerry, Ref: ED Lickeen 1859-1938; 1938-1977 (O.S. 71 + 72). The following holdings were found in the books which began in 1859: 1859 No. 1a. Daniel Brien leased a house, office and land from the representatives of Francis Newton. The land, consisting of 581 acres, 3 roods, 7 perches, which he held in conjunction with holding No. 1b. Daniel’s annual rateable valuation was £17.17s.0d. for the land and £0.15s.0d. for the buildings. The office was crossed off in 1860/1861. Daniel Brien was replaced by Humphrey Connor in 1861/1862. Humphrey Connor was replaced by Darby Connor in 1878. Darby Connor was replaced by his representatives in 1879. Darby Connor’s representatives were replaced by Nora Connor in 1904. Nora Connor was replaced by Diarmuid O’Suileobhan in 1945. Diarmuid O’Suileobhan was replaced by Jeremiah O’Suileobhan in 1959. In the meantime the lessor, Representatives of Francis Newton were replaced by Francis Newton in September 1860, who was in turn replaced by Eusebius McG. Eagar (in chancery) in 1860/61. (Humphrey Connor was my grandfather's mother's father and Nora Connor was my grandfather's mother's sister) 1859 No. 1b Charles Brien leased a herd’s house, office and land from the representatives of Francis Newton. The land, consisting of 581 acres, 3 roods, 7 perches, which he held in conjunction with holding No. 1a. Charles’ annual rateable valuation was £17.8s.0d. for the land and £0.12s.0d. for the buildings. The Representatives of Francis Newton were replaced by Francis Newton in September 1860, who was in turn replaced by Eusebius McG. Eagar (in chancery) in 1860/61. The ‘herds house’ was replaced by ‘house’ in 1860/1861. Charles was replaced by Daniel Connor in 1861/1862. The ‘house’ was crossed off circa 1917. Daniel Connor was replaced by John O’Connor (sic) in 1944. John O’Connor was replaced by Patrick James O’Connor in 1951. The holding became freehold in 1959. A new subdivision was added in 1860/1861: No. 1c. Timothy Connor leased a house and land from Eusebius McG. Eagar. The land consisted of a total of 581 acres, 3 roods, 7 perches, which he held in conjunction with holdings No. 1a and 1b. Timothy was replaced by Michael Connor (Timy) in 1917. Michael Connor (Timy) was replaced by Timothy O’Connor (sic) in 1934. The holding became freehold in 1953. Timothy was replaced by Michael O’Connor in 1966. This holding became holding No. 3ABCDEFGgHJKLM in 1901. In 1959 it became holding No. 2ABCDE and so remained to the final revision which was on 11 April 1977. (This is believed to be your family's land.) A new subdivision was added in 1885. This subdivision was not given a number at that time but was placed beside holding No. 1a. The revision stated: Thomas Griffin leased a house and land from the representatives of Francis Newton. The land consisted of a total of 13 acres, 0 roods, 35 perches which was held in conjunction with holding No. 1a. Thomas’ annual rateable valuation was £5.15s.0d. for the land and £0.5s.0d. for the building. This was the same as the new annual rateable valuation for holding No. 1a. Thomas Griffin was replaced by Matthew Riordan in 1904. Matthew Riordan was replaced by Thomas Griffin in 1914. Thomas Griffin was replaced by Matthew Griffin in 1941 and Matthew Griffin was replaced by his Representatives in 1948. They were replaced by Thomas Griffin in 1961. This subdivision, along with holding No. 1a, became holding No. 1AaBCDEFGH in 1901 when other subdivisions were included in the townland. In 1959 it became No. 3ABC and so remained to the final revision which was on 11 April 1977. The following new subdivisions were added in 1901: 1901 John Connor (Dan) leased a house and land from Eusebius McG. Eagar. The land consisted of 12 acres, 2 roods, 15 perches which he held in conjunction with holding No. 1b.. John’s annual rateable valuation was £5.16s.0d. for the land and £0.4s.0d. for the building. [The annual rateable valuation for holding No. 1b became £2.16s.0d. for the land and £0.4s.0d. for the building] The ‘house and land’ was replaced by ‘house, office and land’ in 1917. John Connor (Dan) was replaced by John O’Connor (sic) in 1944 and John was replaced by Patrick James O’Connor in 1951. This subdivision, along with holding No. 1b, became holding No. 2AaBCDEF in 1901. In 1959 it became No. 1ABC and so remained to the final revision which was on 11 April 1977. 1901 Michael Connor (Tim) leased a house and land from Eusebius McG. Eagar. The land consisted of 12 acres, 0 roods, 25 perches, which he held in conjunction with holding No. 1c. His annual rateable valuation was £4.6s.0d. for the land and £0.4s.0d. for the building. This subdivision, along with holding No. 1c, became holding No. 3ABCDEFGgHJKLM in 1901. Michael Connor (Tim) was replaced by Timothy O’Connor (sic) in 1934. Timothy O’Connor was crossed off in 1953 as was the house and land. No. 4 The following six subdivisions added in 1901 were combined under a new holding No. 4. This consisted of a lease of mountain and bog land from Eusebius McG. Eagar. The land consisted of a total of 541 acres, 2 roods, 2 perches. It was leased to: 1901 Thomas Griffin whose annual rateable valuation was £1.10s.0d. Thomas Griffin was replaced by Matthew Riordan in 1904.. Matthew Riordan was replaced by Thomas Griffin in 1914. Thomas Griffin was replaced by Matthew Griffin in 1941. Matthew Griffin was replaced by his representatives in 1948 who were in turn replaced by Thomas Griffin in 1959. 1901 Darby Connor whose annual rateable valuation was £ 1.10s.0d. Darby was replaced by Nora Connor in 1904. Nora was replaced by Diarmuid O’Suilleabhain in 1946. John was replaced by Patrick James O’Connor in 1951. 1901 Tim Connor whose annual rateable valuation was £1.10s.0d. Tim was replaced by Michael Connor (Timy) in 1917. Michael was replaced by Timothy O’Connor (sic) in 1934 and Timothy was replaced by Michael O’Connor in 1966. 1901 Michael Connor (Tim) whose annual rateable valuation was £1.10s.0d. Michael was replaced by Timothy O’Connor (sic) in 1934. Timothy was crossed off in 1959. The above holding No. 4 became freehold in 1959 under the Land Purchase Act.
