Participated in many Civil War battles, and was wounded during the Battle of Corinth on October 4, 1862. He became a Prisoner Of War on July 4, 1863, but was released or escaped. Was captured on December 17, 1864 at Franklin, TN, and was held at Camp Douglas in Chicago until the war ended.
