Thurman Maurer came from a line of Swiss Maurers. There were 3 children who migrated to the US. A Maurer Family in Tuscarawas County, Ohio, provided this compiler with a publication of this family sometime in the 1960s. Of the 3 children, one line remained in Tuscarawas County, and Jacob Maurer (1810-1861) is buried in Ragersville, Ohio. His brother, Christian Maurer, and a sister, came to Wabash County.

Speculation is that Jacob Karns, who also migrated to Wabash County, was married to Elizabeth Maurer, who was born in circa 1800, and died in Tuscarawas County. See WeRelate.org page for Jackob Karns. Were all these Maurers related?
