"Thomas2 Woodward, baptized in Rushden 6 February 1619/20. On 11 November 1647, Thomas sold 4¼ acres of land at Muddy River, a part of the original 28-acre grant to his father. By early 1652, Thomas Woodward, carpenter, owned a lot in Boston bordering the Common, which he soon sold. Several decades later the name Thomas Woodward is again found at Muddy River. In the records of the 29 October 1678 session of the Suffolk County Court, 'Tho: Woodward Senr' and 'Thom: Woodward junr' are found on a list of 'the Male persons, living at Muddy River (within the Township of Boston) who have taken the oath of Allegiance.' Also, a Thomas Woodward and later a George Woodward appear in the Muddy River rate books for the years in which these books survive between 1674 and 1695. The identification of these two men has not been proven."
