"Thomas was born Sept.26, 1712 in Wales according to a family Bible. He married Susannah Anderson, daughter of Thomas Anderson of Albermarle Co. Va. Susannah died before Thomas. Thomas had financial problems and made many appearences in Cumberland Co. Court in the 1760's. He was repeatedly hauled in for debt. A Charles Williams and John Gannaway made bond for him when he lost one of the lawsuits. Charles may be Thomas's son and may be the same Charles of Pittsylvania Co. from the 1770's onward. Samuel Williams of Cumberland Co. may also be a son of Thomas and Susannah as he paid Thomas tax in 1786. He also named his first born Anderson possibly after his maternal grandfather, Thomas Anderson. There is a Thomas Williams who married a Mary Krantz, daughter of Michael Krantz in Campbell Co. Va. on Jan. 2, 1790. Michael Krantz mentions his disobedient daughter in his will. This Thomas is not Rogers son, nor a son of some other known Williamses. Thomas, father of Samuel, was alive at least until 1786, when Samuel paid his tax. Perhaps Thomas married again in his old age to a younger woman against her father's will. [McDaniel-Patton.GED.
