Will Abstract

12 Aug 1801: To all whom these presents shall come, Know ye I Thomas Warren of Franklin County and State of Virginia do hereby give and grant all the property which I now possess with the tract of land whereon I now live with two negros namely Daniel and Grace with the household furniture of every kind, which land, negros, property and furniture I do hereby give, grant and deliver to my five sons, namely, Zachariah, Ambrose, Drury, William and Elijah Warren, to be equally divided amongst the the said five sons, at the decease of myself and my said wife Jane Warren . . .The deed was witnessed by a sixth son, Jesse. Franklin Co. Va, Deed Book 4, page 184.

1758: Thomas and Jean Warren sell 150 acres to William Ham. This was land inherited by Jean from her father William Lucas. Orange Co. VA.
22 May 1764: Indenture between William Ham of Orange Co. and Andrew Shepard for 30.2.11, grants 200 acres, the said William Ham now lives on 150 acres he bought of Thomas Warren, left by will of William Lucas to Jean, his daughter, spouse to the said Thomas Warren, and the other 50 acres left by William Lucas to his daughter, Mary, late wife of William Ham, and for the whole of the 200 acres he has proper deeds from John Lucas, heir at law to the above deceased William Lucas. Land bounded by lines by Beverly, Lawrence Taliaferro, John Hardwich, and Moses Lucas. 1777: Thomas and Jean Warren sold their 220 acres.
23 Mar 1788: This indenture made 23 Mar 1788 between James Walker formerly sheriff of Orange Co. of one part and James Summerville of the town of Fredrickburg in the County of Spotsylvania. Whearas the said James Walker then Sheriff of Orange County by virtue of a decree of the County Court of Orange in Chancery in the suit of Andrew Shepherd and Company, late merchants of Orange County against William Ham of said county did on 177? expose to sale at public auction the following tract of land in Orange county containing 200 acres and is the same tract of land whereon William Ham formerly lived, the 150 acres he bought of Thomas Warren and which was left by Will from William Lucas to his daughter Jean, wife to the said Thomas Warren, and the other 50 acres of said tract being left by William Lucas to his daughter Mary, late wife of the said William Ham , for the whole of the said 200 acres William Ham claimed under John Lucas, grandson and heir at law of the said William Lucas, decd, which lands were bounded by the line of Beverley Franklin, Hardwick, and Moses Lucas in the writing hereinafter mentioned which lands were mortaged to Andrew Shepherd and Company by the said William Ham by indenture 22 May 1764 and recorded in Orange County by virtue of which the aforesaid was obtained and James Summerville having offered the sum of thirty pounds 10 shillings paid by James Summerville for Andrew Shepherd and Company doth sell unto James Summerville the aforesaid tract of land.
