"Toucey, (Towsey, Tousey, sometimes Tousland), 'Mr.' Thomas was chosen as school committee, 1698, s. of Richard, of Saybrook, who had m. 1667, Dorothy (wid. of John) Edwards, of Weth., and prior to that a wid. of Ab'm Finch. Mr. Thomas d. 1712, at Weth., ae. 62, and hence must have been a son of Richard by an earlier wife. He was a weaver by trade, and with Wm. Pitkin, part-owner of a fulling-mill, in Htfd., and in 1704, was detailed to take charge of one of the 'fortified' houses in Weth. He was the father of Elizabeth (wife of Josiah) Churchill; by his will, dated 12 Nov., 1712, he gave all his ppv. to this dau. except the ho. shop and barn, and all ld. which he gave to his son (Rev.) Thomas; to John Northway, 40s.; to his apprentice John Wells, he gave 'one weaver's loom and gears to weave drugget, serge and kersey,' and, with Mr. Bulkeley (prob. Rev.) his interest in a fulling-mill; he was a widower at dth. It is not known how long he had res. at Weth. He was the ancestor of a Sec'v of U. S. N., Isaac Toucey."

Towsey, Thomas, Wethersfield. Invt. £387-19-00. Taken 3 December, 1712, by John Curtis, Nathaniel Stodder and David Goodrich. Will dated 12 November, 1712.
The last will and testament of Thomas Towsey is as followeth: My body I comit to the earth, and my soule to the Lord, in hopes of a glorius resurection. And that little of my worldly goods that it hath pleased God to bestow upon me, after my just debts are paid, I dispose of as followeth: Imprimis: I give to my son Thomas my dwelling house, and my shop and barn, and all my land, with all the appurtenances of the same. I give to George Northway 40 shillings as money. I give to my apprentice, John Welles, one weaver's loome and gears to weave durgget, sarge and kersey. And all the rest of my estate I give to my daughter Elizabeth Churchill, the wife of Josiah Churchill. And I constitute my daughter Elizabeth Churchill executrix.
